Why a community

Valuing can be a solitary craft. A tricky stone, an unusual hallmark, a question of basis on a probate — the answer is often a colleague away. The Valuer Community is a searchable, professional forum where JVal users help each other, share knowledge, and keep each other sharp. Software can be copied; a community can't.

A professional space

Peer discussion, not formal advice. The community is a place to share knowledge and experience between professionals. It is not formal advice, and responsibility for any valuation always remains with the signing valuer.
Never any client information. No client names, addresses, contact details or identifiable photographs — ever. Discuss the jewellery and the method, never the person.
Courtesy and good faith. A supportive, respectful space for valuers at every stage, from student to fellow. Moderated to keep it that way.
